Sylhet continue amazing run

Sylhet Sixers maintained their winning run in BPL 2017 as they beat Rajshahi Kings by 33 runs at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Tuesday. Rajshahi were restricted to 172 for the loss of eight wickets in pursuit of a massive target of 206. Opener Luke Wright was the highest run-scorer for Rajshahi as the English batsman scored 56 off 39 balls with three fours and four sixes. Rajshahi all-rounder James Franklin scored 35 off 22 deliveries with three boundaries and two over-boundaries but that effort was not enough. Earlier, Sylhet openers Andre Fletcher and Upul Tharanga once again made a strong partnership at the top of the batting order, giving their team a solid start. The Fletcher-Tharanga pair scored 125 and 73 in their first two matches, and against Rajshahi these two formed a 101-run partnership. Tharanga scored his third consecutive half century of the tournament and got out on 50. His innings was composed with five fours and a six. His opening partner Fletcher scored 48 off 30 balls with five boundaries and three over-boundaries. Riding on a very good opening partnership, Sri Lankan Danushka Gunathilaka’s 42 off 22 balls and England’s Ross Whiteley’s 25 off 12 deliveries, Sylhet went past 200 and ended their innings on 205/6. This is the highest total in BPL 2017 so far. Seamer Abul Hasan picked up three wickets conceding 22 runs while England’s Liam Plunkett took three as well, giving away 29 runs.BRIEF SCORESylhet Sixers 205/6 (Tharanga 50, Fletcher 48) beat Rajshahi Kings 172/8 (Wright 56, Abul 3/22) by 33 runs WHAT THEY SAIDRajshahi Kings all-rounder James FranklinWe had belief that we can chase. We tried to keep scoring boundaries. We had a good start. But then we lost the wickets in clumps. Wicket number one and two and three and four fell very quickly. Later me and Luke Wright had a good partnership but unfortunately Luke had a light injury. So it hampered our running between the wicket. And then we tried to hit boundaries. Even after Luke got out, I had Darren Sammy in the middle., but he was also struggling with some injuries. Definitely that halted us. But we were still in the match until six overs remaining. But you need everything in your side when you are chasing 200.Sylhet Sixers all-rounder Abul HasanI have worked with my bowling like variation or slower bowling. I have worked with Champaka Ramanayake in the A team and pace bowling camp. Also I worked to fix my length during T20 bowling as it is very important. So that training worked and I am getting result. Everyone has dream to play for the national team. In that sense I am also working hard to get chance in the ODIs and then T20Is.
