“I have probably had three batting sessions in the last 15 days, which is not ideal. I am trying to get prepared mentally. I think I am ready for it, depending on my fitness test. I have to give another fitness test; I was close to playing the last game. If my fitness test goes well, I don’t see why I can’t play,” said Tamim at Boland Park. “Injuries need time. This is not my last match, nor is it Bangladesh’s last tour. If I get injured again [in the same place], then I will be out for two months which I hope the team management doesn’t want and neither do I. I have to keep these things in mind when I do everything. I was excited to play the last ODI but the physio (Thihan Chandramohan) mainly decided that I shouldn’t play,” he added. Tamim was set to play the first ODI at De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley Sunday but at the last moment, the team decided not to play him due to injury concern. Ahead of the second ODI, the situation remains the same, informed Tamim, and said he will only play if he passes the fitness Test before the game. “If I can pass the fitness test, then I will play but if I can’t, then I have to give the injury time to heal. I was excited to play the last match but since there was pain, I took the expert’s advice. I will do the same [Tuesday],” he concluded.
