Tigers reach Cape Town

Bangladesh team reached Cape Town Monday ahead of their second ODI against host South Africa. The second ODI will be played at Boland Park in Paarl Wednesday. The Tigers left Kimberley at around 10am local time and reached their team hotel in the afternoon. The team will practice Tuesday afternoon ahead of their second ODI.Bangladesh are currently facing several injury problems. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman twisted his ankle during warm-up on Saturday and missed the first ODI at De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley. According to team source, the pacer will miss the rest of the tour. But details of his injury will only be known after scanning his ankle. The scan will be done Tuesday. Opener Tamim Iqbal is also suffering from an injury in his left thigh muscle. As a result, he missed the second and final Test match at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. But the new injury concern is that of Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim. Mushfiq scored a century in the first ODI but did not field in the entire South Africa innings as a precautionary measure. Bangladesh team manager Minhajul Abedin Nannu, who is also the chief national selector informed that Mushfiq’s situation is not serious. But still, he will be assessed Tuesday during practice.

There were also rumours that ODI skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza is suffering from injury. But the chief selector swatted away those rumours. Bangladesh are residing in Cape Town and will attend practice in Paarl, 60 kilometres away from Cape Town.
