India, UAE clash in dead-rubber

India, who have already qualified for the grand finale, will take on the United Arab Emirates in an Asia Cup Twenty20 dead-rubber at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.

The sub-continent giants displayed clinical cricket right throughout the tournament to beat hosts Bangladesh, arch-rival Pakistan and Sri Lanka en route to progressing to the final and will look to continue their brilliant run against a rather weaker opponent in the UAE.

However, the team management might decide to rest some regular players ahead of the final and try out a few cricketers from the bench in order to acclimatise themselves with match conditions with the World T20 looming in the horizon.

The UAE, on the other hand, are yet to win a game in the 14th edition of the regional competition but did show some courage against the big boys.

Emirati skipper Amjad Javed has undoubtedly been the best performer for his side, be it with bat or ball, and will be eager to play a vital role yet again against a formidable Indian side.

The UAE’s task however, will be anything but easy as the Indians will be desperate to end their round-robin campaign with a victory.
