Bangladesh registered their second win in the Asian Cricket Council's Under-19 Asia Cup as they beat Singapore comfortably by seven wickets at the Galle International stadium in Sri Lanka on Friday.
Singapore were bundled out for just 70 in 25.5 overs after some brilliant bowling by the junior Tigers. In reply, skipper Saif Hasan blasted a quickfire 33 off just 11 balls as Bangladesh chased down their target in just five overs losing three wickets.
After being asked to bat, Singapore struggled right from the start. With the exception of opening batsman Rohan Rangarajan, who top-scored with 23, none of the batsmen were able to reach double digits and were eventually all out for a small total.
Abdul Halim and Nayeem Hasan picked up three wickets each while Shakhawat Hossain took two.
Chasing 71, Saif wasted no time whatsoever as he punished the Singapore bowlers from the word go. He smashed four sixes and two fours while Mohammad Rakib remained not out on 13.
Bangladesh had beaten Afghanistan in their first game of the tournament and will face Pakistan in their next Group B game on Sunday.
Meanwhile in the other matches, India beat Nepal by six wickets, Sri Lanka defeated Malaysia by eight wickets while Afghanistan stunned Pakistan by recording a brilliant 21-run win.BRIEF SCOREBangladesh U-19 71/3 in 5 overs (Saif 33, Rakib 13*, Ansh 2/34) beat Singapore U-19 70 in 25.5 overs (Rohan 23, Nayeem 3/16, Halim 3/21) by seven wickets
