Players to watch in Asia Cup qualifiers

Hong Kong

Nadeem Ahmed: The left-arm spinner has picked up 13 wickets in 14 Twenty20 internationals, including best bowling figures of 4/21 against Bangladesh which guided Hong Kong to a historic two-wicket win in the 2014 World T20.

Nizakat Khan: The 23-year old is a genuine all-rounder, bagging 3/19 against Bangladesh in the same T20I with his leg-spinners. He is also a more than useful middle-order batsman with a blistering strike rate of 105.29.

Afghanistan

Mohammad Nabi: The most experienced Afghan T20 cricketer, Nabi will have to play a crucial role in the qualifiers if his side are to make it to the main round. He has taken 31 wickets in 35 T20Is and is also a big-hitter of the cricket ball as his impressive strike rate of 133.61 would attest.

Shapoor Zadran: The tall left-arm fast bowler will spearhead Afghanistan’s pace bowling department in the regional competition. Zadran can be venomous on his day and his swing and bounce have earned him 24 wickets in 23 T20Is.

Oman

Sultan Ahmed: The 38-year old wicketkeeper-batsman, who is also the captain of his side, is expected to play a vital part in the qualifiers. The right-handed middle-order batsman will be looking to score some quick runs, given that his strike rate currently stands at 135.48.

Adnan Ilyas: One of the most dependable middle-order batsman in lower-tier cricket, right-hander Adnan has the ability to rotate the strike and score quick runs simultaneously.

UAE

Swapnil Patil: The stumper-batsman is a vital cog in the UAE batting department. The right-hander played an important knock of 31 against Ireland which levelled the recent two-T20I series between the two sides.

Mohammad Naveed: The right-arm seamer will be heading to the Asia Cup in prime form, having notched 2/16 from his four overs against Ireland to go with his regular wicket-taking exploits in recent times.
