Both Bangladesh captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza and head coach Chandika Hathurusingha hinted of experimenting with the team combination during the ongoing four-match Twenty20 international series against Zimbabwe.
One of the benefactors of the experimentation process is talented youngster Mosaddek Hossain, who was drafted into the squad for the third and fourth T20Is.
Following convincing wins in the first two T20Is, the national selection panel opted to further experiment with the team set-up with one eye on the upcoming Asia Cup T20 and the ICC World T20.
Along with Mosaddek, batting-allrounder Muktar Ali and pacemen Mohammad Shahid and Taskin Ahmed were brought into the squad in place of the injured Mushfiqur Rahim, all-rounder Shuvagata Hom and pace bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Al Amin Hossain.
And after receiving his first ever call-up to the T20 squad, Mosaddek, a consistent performer in the domestic circuit in the last few years, is determined to grab the opportunity with both hands.
“As this is the series of experiments ahead of the Asia Cup T20 and the World T20, I will try to give my best whenever I get the opportunity. After winning the first two games, we have the momentum. And, we will try to continue the winning run against Zimbabwe,” Mosaddek informed the media yesterday.
The Mymensingh cricketer is more renowned for his exploits in the longer-version as opposed to limited-overs but he said, “Although I have scored runs in longer-version recently, I have also played quite a few limited-over matches in the premier league and also for the age-level teams. What’s more, my average suggests that I will be able to cope up with the T20 format and I am confident.”
Mosaddek added that he is ready to bat at any position and according to the need of the team management.
The third and penultimate T20I will be held tomorrow at Khulna’s Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium.
