A late debacle saw Chittagong Vikings lose the momentum and end with a below par score batting first against Rangpur Riders at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Losing eight wickets Chittagong posted 111 runs in 20 overs.
Chittagong skipper Tamim Iqbal won the toss and opted to bat first. Chittagong depends on its batting and Tamim went with the theory of going with the strength first. However the port-city failed to pile-up a competitive score against Rangpur who three out of five matches and are at third position in the points table.
Chittagong openers Tamim and TM Dilshan opened smooth. The duo kept the rotating the strike and had posted 39 in 6.5 overs.

The Rangpur spinners had kept Tamim and Dilshan calm not allowing runs. This had put on pressure on the two batsmen and Dilshan trying to ease that off ended giving a dolly at long-on.
Tamim held to his as two other batsmen, Kamran Akmal and Anamul Haque, came to the middle and went back to the hatch scoring 12 and 14 runs respectively reeling Chittagong at 80 for 3 in 12.3 overs.
Five balls since Anamul’s departure, Tamim was removed all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. The right-arm spinner dropped the ball short as Tamim went down the track to sky it a long-on. Tamim was slow given the situation and scored 36 off 43 balls after he had survived a catch in the 10th over.
Tamim’s departure had slowed down the scoreboard and Rangpur bowlers took the advantage. Chittagong lost the four more wickets in the innings scoring 27 runs in the last five overs of the innings.
Rangpur skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Arafat bagged two wickets each while Nabi, Thisara Perera and Saqlain Sajib picked a scalp each.
