Tigers still seventh in ODIs, England on verge of drop

Bangladesh have held onto seventh position in the International Cricket Council’s one-day international rankings. Following the clean sweep over Zimbabwe in the three-ODI series, the Tigers garnered one point to take their points tally to 97.

The whitewash also enabled Bangladesh to gain some breathing space over eighth-ranked Pakistan, who have 90 points. At the same time, the Tigers reduced their gap with sixth-placed England, who now have 99 points.

England, who are currently playing Pakistan in a four-ODI series, will drop down to seventh if they lose the ongoing series. England have already lost the first ODI last Wednesday in the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile in the ICC’s ODI bowlers’ rankings, Shakib al Hasan, who missed the second and third match against Zimbabwe, has dropped one place to fourth on 699 points. The left-arm spinner trails New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult.

Shakib continues to lead the all-rounders’ rankings with 416 points while Nasir Hossain climbed six places to a career-high 14th.

Spinner Arafat Sunny has vaulted 13 places to a career-high 39th and is now just a single point behind veteran Bangladesh campaigner Abdur Razzak.

Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman continued his climb in the rankings, jumping 25 places to a career-high 41st.
