Australia's new captain Steve Smith has expressed regret over the decision of Bangladesh tour postponement.
He, however, supported the decision taken by Cricket Australia.
"Obviously the safety and security of the players is the biggest concern," Smith said on Friday morning.
"Cricket Australia has worked really closely with DFAT and ASIO over the last week or so and have come to the conclusion that it's not safe enough for us to travel at this time."
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan called Cricket Australia’s decision to postpone their visit to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series “unfortunate”.
Cricket Australia, following a series of meetings with the board and delegates from the government of Australia, decided to postpone their visit to Bangladesh on security grounds.
BCB chief Nazmul in reaction to the CA decision said he could not understand the move. Nazmul said any security personnel could have realised the level of security Bangladesh had assured to the Australia Test team.
