Nasir expects good contest ahead

Newly-appointed Bangladesh A team vice captain Nasir Hossain is looking forward to the forthcoming tour of India as he believes it will serve as good preparation ahead of the two Test matches against Australia at home next month.

The Rangpur division all-rounder also opined that the tour of India will help them to prepare better, compared to the upcoming National Cricket League, scheduled to begin on September 17 this year. The NCL, premier first-class domestic competition of the country, has been brought forward, keeping the Australia Tests in mind.

“We are going to play three one-dayers and two three-day games. However, we had a break for the last few days. We have started training again. We have a lot of national players in the A side and I think it will help us to perform individually. And, as we are going to play the India A team, they will come hard against us, that’s for sure. I think it’s going to be a great contest,” Nasir told the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.

The 23-year old, who has played 17 Tests, scoring 971 runs at 37.34 and taking eight wickets with his much-improved off-spinners, added that he has not set any personal targets in the tour of India.

“Earlier, my target was to return to the national team whenever I played for the A side. But this tour will be more of a preparation for the upcoming Australia series. I did not set any personal target but I am looking forward to utilising the opportunity. Obviously, my target is to play better cricket, it does not matter if we win or lose,” said Nasir.
