As many as 10 Bangladeshi street footballers will be participating the upcoming Qatar Street Child World Cup.
The female footballers will be participating in the tournament on Doha, sponsored by KFC, a concern of Transcom Foods.
The girls were handed over the jersey during a ceremony at the Gulshan Branch of KFC on Sunday.
Transcom Foods CEO Amit Dev Thapa, Head of Marketing Muradul Mustakin and many others were present on the occasion to encourage the children.
Since the beginning of their journey in Bangladesh, KFC has been interested in spreading positivity in the society as Transcom Foods Limited believes that any amount of contribution can have a more fruitful impact in the future, the chain food retailer said in a statement.
KFC has signed up to be one of the sponsors of LEEDO's (Local Education and Economic Development Organisation) initiative to take 10 underprivileged girls to the Street Child World Cup in Qatar’s Doha from October 8 to October 15.
To be able to play on an international football field from playing on the streets is a dream come true for the 10 underprivileged girls.
These girls only played football using paper balls so far but now they have the opportunity to represent Bangladesh on an international stage like the Street Child World Cup.
Amit Dev said: “We are very proud to do something for the underprivileged children. KFC wants to provide more opportunities for them which will bring glory to the country. We look forward to doing more for them in the future.”
