Three men suspected of firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening reportedly traveled about 4km on a motorcycle before abandoning it near a police beat post in Andheri and fleeing on foot.
The shooting took place around 7pm near Pushpa Park, about 100 meters from Juhu police station. Five rounds were reportedly fired at Shroff’s BMW as he returned home after playing football. The actor was not shot, but his driver and another person near the vehicle were injured.
According to preliminary reports, three men arrived on a motorcycle. Two allegedly opened fire while the third assisted their escape. The suspects reportedly rode toward Andheri railway station, passing several busy junctions, including those near Mithibai College and SV Road.
They abandoned the motorcycle outside a police beat post before crossing the railway bridge toward the eastern side of the station. Police recovered the motorcycle around 9pm and took it to DN Nagar police station.
Investigators are examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to trace the suspects’ movements and identify any vehicle they may have used afterward. Police have formed 15 teams to investigate the shooting, and the case is expected to be transferred to the Crime Branch.
A social media post attributed to Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, police have not confirmed the authenticity of the post or established the gang’s involvement.
The incident has drawn comparisons with previous attacks in Mumbai linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including the October 2024 murder of politician Baba Siddique and shootings outside the residences of actor Salman Khan and filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
Investigators have yet to establish whether the latest shooting is connected to those incidents.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff’s residence after the shooting and assured the family of government support. Shinde condemned the incident and said to the indian media outlets: “No form of threat will be tolerated.”
Shroff’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, briefly responded to questions about her son from India Today by giving a thumbs-up and saying: “God is great.”
The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge as police examine the evidence.
