Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ tops Billboard global charts

Taylor Swift has debuted at No 1 on both of Billboard’s global song charts with “Patient Zero,” adding another milestone to her chart record.

The song tops the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl US charts for the week dated October 10, 2026.

The achievement gives Swift her eighth No 1 on the Global 200, tying her with BTS for the most chart-toppers since the chart was launched in 2020.

“Patient Zero” is Swift’s fifth No 1 on the Global Excl. US chart, moving her ahead of Bad Bunny and Ariana Grande among solo artists. BTS leads all acts with eight No 1s.

The song is one of four new tracks included on the deluxe edition of Swift’s 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl, titled The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.

According to Luminate data cited by Billboard, “Patient Zero” recorded 70.7 million streams and sold 80,000 copies worldwide during the September 25 to October 1 tracking period.

Its music video, directed by Swift and starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, premiered during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27.

The other three new tracks also made strong debuts on the Global 200. “Cleveland!” entered at No 2, “Babylon” at No 3 and “Pink Clouding” at No 5.

The results bring Swift’s total Global 200 top-10 entries to 47, surpassing Drake’s previous record of 45.

Meanwhile, “The Fate of Ophelia,” another track from The Life of a Showgirl, climbed to No 8 on the Global 200 after spending seven weeks at No 1. It also reached No 10 on the Global Excl. US chart.

All four new tracks entered the Global Excl. US top 10, with “Patient Zero” at No 1, “Cleveland!” at No 6, “Pink Clouding” at No 7 and “Babylon” at No 8.

Swift now has 34 top-10 entries on the Global Excl. US chart, extending her lead over Bad Bunny, who has 24.

The chart success comes after The Life of a Showgirl returned to No 1 on the Billboard 200 for a 13th non-consecutive week following the release of The Encore edition.

Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts rank songs based on streaming and download sales across more than 200 territories. The Global 200 includes US activity, while the Global Excl. US chart measures activity outside the country, with data compiled by Luminate.
