Tom Cruise appears in a dramatically different look in Alejandro G Iñárritu’s upcoming film “Digger”, which is set to release worldwide on October 2 under the Warner Bros banner.
The film will also be released in Bangladesh on the same day.
Known for his action roles and portrayal of Ethan Hunt in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Cruise has maintained a recognisable screen persona throughout his more than four-decade career. “Digger”, however, sees him take on a markedly different appearance.
In the film, Cruise appears with grey-white hair, a prominent belly and a heavily lined face. His transformation drew attention following the release of the film’s trailer.
The change involved more than makeup and prosthetics. Cruise said he worked closely with Iñárritu on several aspects of the character, including the costume, makeup, appearance of his teeth, manner of walking, and the rhythm of the music associated with the role.
According to Cruise, a character is shaped by more than dialogue, with visual details also contributing to the storytelling.
The actor also said his more than four decades of experience in the film industry helped him approach the role and move beyond the screen image audiences have long associated with him.
