Miss World Bangladesh 2026 winner Samanzar Sayeed will leave for Vietnam on August 8 to represent Bangladesh at the 73rd Miss World Festival, where she will showcase her "Beauty With a Purpose" initiative promoting preventive healthcare through hygiene awareness.
The international pageant will run from August 9 to September 5, with the grand finale scheduled in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The event also marks the 75th anniversary of the Miss World Organization.
Speaking at a press conference in Banani on Thursday, Samanzar unveiled her "Beauty for Health Bangladesh" initiative, which seeks to promote hygiene awareness as a key tool for preventing disease.
The Miss World "Beauty With a Purpose" segment requires contestants to lead sustainable social initiatives addressing real-world challenges. Samanzar's campaign focuses on seven areas of hygiene: personal hygiene, hand hygiene, food hygiene, safe drinking water, oral hygiene, menstrual hygiene, and environmental hygiene.
The initiative follows a volunteer-based multiplier model, in which each volunteer is expected to recruit 10 more volunteers, who will then educate at least 100 people on essential hygiene practices. The campaign aims to build a nationwide network of 10,000 volunteers and reach more than one million people over the next year through awareness programs and community engagement.
According to the organizers, the project has already partnered with more than 40 non-governmental organizations and community groups, reaching over 1,600 children and their families through hygiene education, awareness campaigns, and the distribution of hygiene kits. It also promotes community-led environmental sanitation, clean water awareness, and post-flood hygiene campaigns in vulnerable areas.
Since winning the national title in July, Samanzar has been working with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and other partners to expand the initiative nationwide, the organizers said.
A graduate in biochemistry and biotechnology, Samanzar said her academic background and upbringing in a family of medical professionals inspired her interest in public health.
"People usually think about treatment after they become sick. But preventive measures receive far less attention," she said.
"Through this campaign, I want to make people more aware of basic hygiene practices. If we can reach communities with the right information, we can create long-term behavior change. Representing Bangladesh at Miss World is one of the greatest honors of my life, and I hope to make the country proud."
She also called for public support during the competition, particularly in the public voting segment, and encouraged young people to join her volunteer initiative through her social media platforms.
Speaking at the press conference, Azra Mahmood, founder and managing director of Azra Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC) and national director of Miss World Bangladesh, said modern pageantry extends far beyond appearance.
She said contestants are expected to serve as ambassadors who promote meaningful social causes while representing their countries on global platforms.
Samanzar was crowned Miss World Bangladesh 2026 on July 11, succeeding Aklima Atika Konika.
Organized by Azra Mahmood Talent Camp (AMTC), the national competition selected Bangladesh's representative through assessments of communication skills, public speaking, leadership, social advocacy, and stage performance.
