Aamir shifts spotlight, ‘Sitaare’ set for OTT glow

After lighting up the big screen, Aamir Khan is ready to bring the stars home.

Sitaare Zameen Par now heads to SonyLIV on April 3 -- but the move isn’t a last-minute pivot. It’s all part of a carefully scripted journey.

Walking the red carpet at the inaugural International Film Festival Delhi, Aamir set the record straight: OTT was always in the blueprint -- just not rushed.

“I was never in two minds,” he said. “I always wanted an OTT release, but not so quickly after the theatre release.”

And now, the timing feels just right.

Following a strong theatrical run that pulled in an impressive Rs265 crore worldwide, the film -- often described as a spiritual successor to the beloved Taare Zameen Par -- is ready for its second life, this time on screens much closer to home.

Co-starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film doesn’t just revisit emotion -- it expands it.

At its heart are ten debutant neurodivergent actors, whose presence gives the narrative an authenticity that lingers long after the credits roll.

But Aamir isn’t stopping at the film.

In a deeply personal extension, a companion documentary titled Sitaaron Ke Sitaare will also premiere on SonyLIV -- shifting the spotlight from the performers to the people behind them.

“The Sitaare are the superstars,” Aamir said, “but the real-life superstars are the parents.”

It’s a sentiment that reframes the entire project -- from a cinematic experience to something far more intimate.

With its OTT debut, Sitaare Zameen Par isn’t just arriving on a new platform.

It’s opening a new conversation -- about inclusion, resilience, and the quiet brilliance of those who stand behind the stars.
