K-pop superstars BTS have officially announced their long-awaited return, confirming a full group comeback on March 20, 2026. The date was revealed in a social media post by their agency, BigHit Music, marking the group’s first official group release in nearly four years.
“March 20th comeback confirmed,” BigHit Music posted on X (formerly Twitter), immediately sending fans worldwide into celebration. The announcement follows the completion of South Korea’s mandatory military service by all seven members — RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, Jung Kook and j-hope — a period that placed group activities on hold while each member fulfilled enlistment requirements.
Suga was the final member to complete his service, finishing his duties in June 2025 as a social service worker. This alternative form of enlistment was reportedly granted due to a previous shoulder injury. The remaining six members served in the South Korean army, with enlistments staggered over time. This strategy allowed BTS to maintain a presence in the music industry through solo releases, collaborations and independent projects while the group remained on hiatus.
Hints of a comeback first emerged last summer, when BTS revealed plans for a new album scheduled for spring 2026, alongside teasing a future global tour. At the time, the group said work on the album would begin in July 2025, once enlistments were complete.
The members emphasized that the upcoming project would be a true group album, incorporating the personal experiences, musical ideas and artistic perspectives of all seven members. They added that they are approaching the album with the same enthusiasm and dedication that defined their early years, signaling a return to the collaborative spirit that helped launch their global success.
The forthcoming release will be BTS’s first group album since 2022’s anthology Proof. Their last full studio album was Be in 2020, followed by the Japanese compilation BTS, the Best in 2021. Given the length of the hiatus and the group’s continued global influence, expectations for the comeback are exceptionally high.
With their return now officially confirmed, BTS’s March 2026 comeback is already shaping up to be one of the most significant moments in modern pop music — not just for K-pop, but for the global music industry as a whole.
