Nipun banned for life by Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association

Actor Nasrin Akter Nipun has been expelled from the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association.

The association’s executive council unanimously made the decision on Sunday, confirmed Vice President DA Tayeb.

Nipun stood accused of misusing the association’s official letterhead to issue unauthorized statements.

On July 16 last year, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Nipun issued a statement using the association's letterhead, identifying herself as its former general secretary.

The next day, she also shared the statement on social media.

When the matter was raised during the sixth meeting of the Misha Sawdagor-Dipjol-led committee on July 30, the council decided to issue a show-cause notice to Nipun.

However, reports suggest that she disregarded the notice.

Recently, on January 10, Nipun was detained while preparing to board a London-bound Biman flight and released after questioning.
