Legendary actor Prabir Mitra, fondly known as the "Nawab of the Silver Screen," passed away on Sunday at 10:10pm at Square Hospital in Dhaka.
He was 81.
The veteran actor had been battling multiple health complications and was hospitalized on December 22 due to oxygen deficiency.
Despite receiving intensive medical care, his condition continued to worsen.
Born on August 18, 1943, in Chandina, Comilla, Prabir Mitra’s illustrious career spanned over four decades, during which he acted in more than 400 films.
He was celebrated for his remarkable versatility and captivating performances, which left an indelible mark on the Bangladeshi film industry.
In 1982, he earned the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his stellar role in Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo.
Later, in 2018, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Film Awards for his immense contributions to cinema.
Prabir Mitra’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and countless admirers.
He is survived by two sons, one daughter, and a legion of colleagues and well-wishers who will forever cherish his legacy.
His extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft will be remembered for generations to come.
