Indigenous Artist’s Unity will host Indigenous Screen, a two day event to showcase films made by indigenous artists.
The programme offers a unique perspective on the everyday life and struggle of over 54 indigenous communities speaking at least 35 languages in Bangladesh. In the last decades, films and documentaries have become a vital medium to create awareness and paint the realities of our lives. For that same reason, these films have also been heavily censored to keep our truth away from the public eye.
Their goal is to change that and have their voices heard.
The feature films include My Bicycle by Aung Rakhine, Abima by Antony Rema, Khumi I Awmnai Rita by Shuvashish Chakma Ittukgul, “Kalpana”..not Imagination by Santua Tripura, Felim: Cinema for Identity by Adit Dewan and Turin Tanchangya, Song of Kopotakkho by Subtato Munda, Choto Pakhi by Molla Sagor and Life is Still Not Ours by Arnab Dewan.
The event will take place on August 16 at Lalmatia Block D Field (Open-air screening) from 6:00 pm onwards and on August 17 at House 12, Road 101, Gulshan 2 from 6:00 pm onwards.
