Fashion house Khut’s co-owner Farhana Hamid wrote on Facebook that the fire at musician Rahul Ananda's house has no connection with his religion, caste, ethnicity, or culture.
She also requested everyone not to spread such rumours.
Discussing the fire incident, fashion designer Farhana Hamid wrote that miscreants targeted the Bangabandhu Museum in Dhanmondi 32 with arson. The fire spread to Rahul Ananda's house, which is adjacent to the museum's wall.
The official Facebook page of Rahul's band Joler Gaan shared the post with the message "Please read this post and know the truth" on Friday.
Farhana Hamid wrote, "If they (miscrents) intended to target Rahulda, they would not have allowed the family to escape that easily. And without that opportunity, it would have been impossible to get out of that house.”
“The fire at Rahulda's house has no connection with his religion, caste, ethnicity, or culture. Hence, I request not to spread such rumours. Any rumour can take a frightening form under the current national situation. Let us be vigilant," the post added.
She further wrote: "I am personally against arson attack at anywhere. I am against setting fire to an important historical site like the Bangabandhu Museum. I am aware of vehemently opposing attacks on minorities.
“However, that does not mean that the attacks were not made for reasons of language, religion, caste, ethnicity, or culture, nor that the rumours spreading for any reason cannot be called rumours."
On August 5, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina, there were victory processions across the country.
On this day, various government buildings and offices of the Awami League were targeted with arson and vandalism.
There were also reports of attacks on minorities in some areas.
Among these incidents, the house of Rahul Ananda, a musician of Joler Gaan, an actor, a musician, and painter, Khut co-owner Urmila Shukla, located in Dhanmondi 32, was burnt.
Several media outlets in Kolkata and Dhaka reported the incident as a “communal attack”. This was also spread on social media.
Rahul Ananda confirmed the post was shared on Joler Gaan's official page with media.
He said: "From the beggars to the elite, everyone loves me. They did not intend to set fire to my house. Among thousands of people here, it was done by the overly enthusiastic ones."
