Ekushey Padak 2024: 12 artists out of 21 awardees

  The Ministry of Cultural Affairs revealed the list of nominees for the “Ekushey Padak-2024”, comprising luminaries from diverse domains, encapsulating the essence of Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage and progressive ethos.

 Among the recipients, 12 illustrious artists stand out for their indelible marks in the realm of arts, including music, dance, recitation, painting,   and documentary filmmaking. Notable figures such as Jalal Uddin Khan, Kalyani Ghosh, Bidit Lal Das, Andrew Kishore, and Shuvro Dev (posthumous) are being honored for their invaluable contributions to music, while Shibli Mohammed and Dolly Zahur are recognized for their   exemplary work in dance.

Actress Dolly Zahur, amidst a hospital visit, expressed her humility and gratitude upon receiving the news, acknowledging the abundance of talent within the nation. Similarly, Shuvro Dev emphasized his diverse musical journey, extending beyond love songs, attributing the recognition to his extensive body of work, encompassing sports and social themes.

The “Ekushey Padak” also pays tribute to Shimul Mustafa for his exceptional prowess in recitation, underscoring the significance of this accolade in his illustrious career. The award further extends to luminaries in the Language Movement, social service, literature, and education, reinforcing the spirit of national identity and social progress.

Each awardee will receive a medal, a certificate, and a replica of 18-carat gold, symbolizing the nation's highest honor for their exemplary service and enduring legacy.

As Bangladesh celebrates the achievements of these distinguished individuals, the “Ekushey Padak-2024” serves as a testament to the nation's commitment to honoring excellence and fostering cultural and intellectual growth.
