Batikrom Nattyagosty pays tribute to Syed Mohidul Islam

Batikrom Nattyagosty, a theatrical troupe, has paid tribute to noted playwright, actor and director Syed Mohidul Islam by organizing a three-day commemorative festival.

This year marks the festival’s 17 years, said a press release.

The festival started on Friday at the main hall of the National Theatre and continued till Sunday. The inaugural ceremony began at 6pm.

Mancha Sarathi Ataur Rahman, Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Professor Dr Ratan Siddiqui, and renowned actor Dilara Zaman were present as the chief guests. 

Dilara Zaman was presented with this year's Syed Mohidul Islam Award. 

The guests highlighted various aspects of the late theatre personality's work in their discussions. Theatre teacher, director, producer, and actor Syed Mohidul Islam was remembered by the audience as well.

Five “Monchobondhu' honourary awards were handed over to five artists and “Jugol honorary awards” to four couples.

Later, a play “Amra Tinjon'' was staged by the theatrical group “Lok Nattyadol.” 

“Pakhi” by “Batikrom Nattyagosty” was also performed.
