The Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan's latest film “Jawan” is set to premiere in Bangladesh on September 8, having secured the Information Ministry's approval.
Senior Producer and Actor Kazi Hayat confirmed the news following his presence at the Information Ministry's meeting on Sunday afternoon.
The Information Ministry has granted permission for the import of the film, allowing Bangladeshi audiences to revel in the cinematic extravaganza.
“Jawan” is being brought to Bangladesh by Action-Cut Entertainment. The company's owner, Ananya Mamun, has also confirmed this. However, he clarified that the film will hit Bangladeshi screens on September 8, not September 7. In Bangladesh, the new film usually premieres on Fridays. As September 8 is a Friday, the movie will be released on that day.
When asked if the ministry’s approval is enough to release the film, Mamun replied: "In India, the film has passed censorship without much trouble. I am hopeful the board will clear it swiftly after review. “Jawan” will surely be released in Bangladesh on September 8."
The government reopened doors to Hindi cinema in May this year, allowing the annual import and release of 10 Hindi films, he added.
Following the arrival of “Pathaan" on May 12 this year, Salman Khan's movie "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" was recently screened in 32 cinema halls across Bangladesh on the previous Friday.
However, the Indian film has not been performing strongly in Bangladeshi theaters.
Meanwhile, advance tickets for “Jawan” are already available for purchase in the US, UAE, Australia, and other places. Ticket sales in these countries are showing an impressive surge, and a similar trend is anticipated to start in India soon.
In a smaller setting, advance ticket sales began in a few theatres in Mumbai's Thane area. Surprisingly, all tickets were sold out in just 15 minutes! People were so enthusiastic that they bought each ticket for ₹1,100.
Meanwhile, in the US alone, tickets worth about ₹1.5 crore have been sold, setting an advance booking record for any Hindi film. This number will only grow bigger before the film's release.
“Jawan” received clearance from the Indian Censor Board on August 22. The movie has a runtime of 2.49, ensuring a smooth release.
South Indian star Nayanthara is playing the role of heroine in "Jaawan", Sanjay Dutt and Deepika Padukone are seen in guest roles.
South filmmaker Atlee Kumar is the producer for “Jawan”, while Shah Rukh's wife Gauri Khan is the producer. The trailer of the movie "Jawan" came out last year.
The trailer shows Shah Rukh Khan with his face wrapped in bandages, with only one of his eyes visible.
