Bangladeshi director Robiul Alam Robi’s film “Suraiya” has been chosen for the Asian Project Market (APM) under the Busan International Film Festival.
The festival being held at Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in South Korea will take place from October October 4 to 13. The APM will be held October 7 to 10 during the Asian Contents & Film Market.
“Suraiya” produced by Fazle Hasan Shishir is among 30 films selected from 13 countries. This year, 399 screenplays from 50 countries were submitted to the APM.
The screenplay of the film “Suraiya" was written by Shivabrata Barman based on his own novel of the same name. West Bengal's Anandabazar ranked "Suraiya" fourth among the top 10 books published in 2022 on Bengali language and Bengali history, culture and lifestyle. Shivabrata Burman is also set to co-produce the film.
The APM allows for direct networking opportunities with renowned producers, co-producers, distributors, film festival organisers and others from different countries. Aside from financial support, direct technical support is also available for pre-production and post-production. All in all, it is one of the biggest film markets in Asia.
Robi’s previous works “Unoloukik” and “Cafe Desire,” are available to stream on Chorki.
