Curtain falls on Global Youth Film Festival

The 5th Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh (GYFFB) concluded on Tuesday, December 28, at the Aunima Chowdhury Auditorium in Natore. 

The three-day festival, organized by Cinema Bangladesh, screened 71 films from 31 countries. Iranian film “Elders” bagged the Best of the Fest award while Chinese filmmaker Li Bo won the Best Director award. 

The Best Animation award went to German film “Take Heart;” and Indian film “Rohingya” grabbed the Best Documentary award.

In the national category, Fuaduzzuman Fuad’s “Home in Sound” won the Hiralal Sen Best Bangladeshi Film award, and Layek Ahmed Pobon won the Tareque Masud Memorial Best Bangladeshi Director award. The Best Actor award went to Mostafizur Noor Imran for his performance in “Dream of Moyna.”

The award-giving ceremony was attended by renowned filmmaker Giasuddin Selim, screenwriter and journalist Sadia Khalid and director Proshoon Rahmaan.

A workshop was simultaneously held over the course of the festival where 30 young filmmakers were mentored by notable instructors on script writing, art direction, production design and distribution.

The next edition of the festival is likely to be held at Cox’s Bazar, informed a press release.
