Dhaka University Film Society observes ‘Smritir Bijoy 2021’

In the month of December every year, a three-day commemorative ceremony titled ‘Smritir Bijoy’ (Triumph of Memory) is held by Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS). 

On the 14th, a candle light ceremony and a remembrance for intellectuals, killed by Pakistani forces and their collaborators during the Liberation War, were held at 5.30pm, attended by family members of the martyrs, who fondly recalled the life and sacrifice of the fallen.

On the eve of the Victory day, Wednesday, December 15, sky lanterns will be flown and other festivities observed to celebrate the 50 years of independence.

On the 16th, an open film screening, based on the theme of the liberation war, will be arranged at the TSC premises of Dhaka University at 6pm.

The organizers are strictly adhering to the social distancing rules while holding the three-day event, and urging attendees to wear masks.

Previously, DUFS, in cooperation with Dhaka University Faculty of Fine Arts, held the charity film screening titiled "Ayoner Jonno Cholcchitro” from November 10 to November 13.

All proceeds from the ticket sales were donated for the medical treatment of Ayon Bhattacharya, a student of the department of Printmaking, University of Dhaka.
