Poster revealed for Kamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Anyadin’

Filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon dropped the official poster for his latest directorial venture “Anyadin,” which is the second installment to his “Water Trilogy.”

The filmmaker has previously drawn praise for the posters of his docu-drama “Neel Mukut” and hybrid documentary “Shunte ki Pao!”

Fusing various elements of the country’s biggest traditional festivals, Simon wanted the “Anyadin” poster to convey a festive and vibrant mood.

Earlier, the film was selected for the 2021 international competition at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

“Anyadin” will have its world premiere at IDFA’s International Competition section at the Tuschinski Theater, on Sunday, November 20 at 9 pm.

IDFA is a globally renowned international film festival that showcases the recently released non-fiction films. The 12-day long festival screens more than three hundred films for a vast audience.

"Anyadin," a hybrid of the fiction-non-fiction genre, is one of the 14 films from 21 countries including France, Russia, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Argentina and Portugal, which will compete for the prestigious award for best non-fiction feature film.

Earlier in 2016, Kamar received the top honour at Open Doors Hub in Locarno for the script of "Anyadin" and was featured as the Red Carpet Director on the Piazza Grande, Locarno’s 8,000 seat open-air theater. The film also won the ARTE international prize at the same festival.

The director said, “Though not many of us may not have heard of IDFA in Dhaka, but it is one of the largest international film festivals, and this was my first ever submission! What else I could expect from a film! I feel it's a crucial moment for Asian filmmakers who are trying to narrate a story in their own language and style.”
