Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shongstha is organising the 34th 'National Rabindranath Music Festival' on the occasion of the 162nd birthday (25 Baisakh) of poet Rabindranath Tagore. The event will be held on May 12 and 13 at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium in the capital.
A press conference was called at the National Press Club on Friday (May 5) morning to announce the matter. The president of the organisation Tapan Mahmud, the executive president Amina Ahmed and the general secretary Piyush Barua spoke on the occasion.
Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shongstha was established on May 27, 1988 by the legendary artist Kalim Sharafi. For four consecutive decades, the organisation has been working regularly to spread the creation of Rabindranath across the country and the world. In continuation of that, the organisation.
However, another organisation has formed with the same name giving rise to confusions, and criticisms. It is known that a few members left the Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shongstha, an organisation of more than 250 members. But that organisation has no official approval from the state.
Executive President Amina Ahmed opened the press conference saying: “Various obstacles in the way of development of pure culture should take us back to Rabindranath again and again. He is relevant to our national and Bengali daily life. We continue to fight in the struggle to create a beautiful culture-friendly future free of corruption for future generations. Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shongstha has been working towards that goal for 35 years. This trend will continue in the future.”
In the press conference, it was said that in addition to several famous artists of the country, hundreds of group and solo performances of the organisation will take part in the two-day festival. The program will begin with three consecutive choruses as per tradition. After that, meritorious awards will be given.
The first day is divided into two parts. Inauguration of the first phase and meritorious awards. The second phase starts at 6 pm. The next day will begin at 5 pm. The country's best reciters and singers will also participate on this day. At the beginning of this day, there will be three choruses in a row according to the tradition of the organisation.
