Popular Indian Bengali actress/director Sreelekha Mitra is coming to Dhaka with her short-film “Ebong Chhad” (And the Rooftop), as the film made it to the official selection of 21st edition of Dhaka International Film Fest. Sreelekha's fim was selected under the Women Filmmaker Section at the festival.
Sreelekha Mitra considers Bangladesh as her root. Bangladesh is the ancestral country of the Indian born actress. She took it to the social media to announce the news of her visit to Bangladesh with a picture of her packed luggage.
The story of the short “Ebong Chhad” revolves around the rooftops of North Kolkata. Sreelekha plays the role of a middle-aged housewife in the short-film. Apart from acting and directing, Sreelekha also produced the film. The actress in her recent interviews said that she will focus on writing and production in addition to acting.
According to DIFF authorities, Sreelekha Mitra will arrive at Dhaka on January 15. The first screening of her film “Ebong Chhad” will be held at 5:00 pm on January 16 at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum. The actress will discuss on her short film after the screening. Second screening of “Ebong Chhad” will be held on January 21 at the same venue.
Curtain rises on the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival on January 14. Displaying a total of 252 films from 70 countries, the festival will run till January 22.
