'Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura’ wins best film award at KIFF

Bangladeshi director Muhammad Kayum's debut film “Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura” received best film award at the 28th edition of Kolkata International Film Festival. The film was selected to compete under the “International Competition: Innovation in Moving Images” category.

 

In his debut film, “Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura” (The Golden Wings of Water clock), director Muhammad Kayum portrays the regular struggle of the people living in the Haor area of Bangladesh. The filmmaker depicts the story of marginalized people living under poverty line. 

 

“Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura” jointly won the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award for the Best Film along with the Spanish film, “Upon Entry.” “Kura Pokkhir Shunne Ura” director Muhammad Kayum dedicated the award to his late friend, Gazi Mahtab Hasan and everyone involved in the making of the film. 

 

28th edition of the prestigious Kolkata International Film Festival closed on December 22. Aside from the Best Film Award, Special Jury award and Best Director Award were given at the festival.
