3 National Film Award trophies were stolen from three-times National-Award winning lyricist, Moniruzzaman Moni's apartment. Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh in a press conference confirmed the information.
Notable lyricist Moniruzzaman Monir is a lifelong member of Geetikobi Shongho Bangladesh. The organization denounced the incident and informed that a total of five trophies including the National Award trophies were bagged from Moniruzzaman Moni's apartment on the night of November 3.
Moniruzzaman Monir is considered as one of the most successful lyricists in the Bangladeshi film industry. His 3 National Film Award trophies that got stolen, were for the songs, “Tumi Chhara Ami Eka (1988),” “Ei Haat Kore Nao Hatiyar (1989),” and “Tumi Amar Koto Chena (1990).”
“It has been more than 20 days since the case was filed. Yet the trophies have not been recovered,” Geetikobi Shongho wrote on the press release. “We think that the incident portrays the helplessness of the artists, which is alarming for us.”
The poet's organization demanded immediate recovery of the trophies. They sought the attention of related authority and said, “We will go on organizational strike if the matter is not resolved immediately.”
