Closing ceremony of WLISFF to be held at Alliance Française

The closing and award-giving ceremony of the first edition of the Women's Lens International Short Film Festival (WLISFF), organized by Dhaka University film Society (DUFS), will be held at Alliance Française de Dhaka on July 5 at 3PM.

Around 100 films from over 30 different nations were submitted to the first edition of WLISFF. Top 30 short films will be screened at the closing ceremony followed by a panel discussion on "Creating a safer workplace for women in the film industry.” Prominent film activists, academicians and filmmakers will be present at that segment. 

Panelists for this session include Shameem Akhtar, filmmaker; Fauzia Khan, honorable faculty of Postgraduate Diploma in Film and Television in Pathshala South Asian Media Institute and Dr Kaberi Gayen, Professor of Department of Mass Communication & Journalism. The session will be moderated by film critic and journalist Sadia Khalid Reeti.

WLISFF is a platform dedicated to promoting the various dimensions and forms of filmmaking among female filmmakers from around the world, as well as to recognizing the expanding arena of independent female filmmakers. With the slogan 'Her Voice, Her Vision' this festival aims to create a cross-cultural platform for a wide range of creative female filmmakers from Bangladesh and abroad.

The event is cost-free and open for all.
