For the budget year of 2021-2022, the information and broadcasting ministry announced the list of films receiving grants on Wednesday, June 15.
A total of nineteen feature films have been deemed eligible for the government grants this year.
As per a gazette notification issued by the ministry, the selected films will bag a total of Tk 12.15 crore under two categories -- Liberation War Category and General Category.
Last year, Liberation War, general, and children's films were the three categories in which the grants were allocated.
Khorshedul Alam Khandaker’s “Joy Banglar Dhoni” and Rafiqul Anwar Russel” Ekattor-Karatale Chinnamatha” are set to receive Tk 60,00,000 each in the Liberation War Category.
Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s upcoming film “1969” will receive Tk 75,00,000 whereas Masud Hassan Ujjal’s Banalata Sen, Marufa Akhter Popy’s Bangabandhur Renu, Ali hayder Ujjal’s Eito Jibon, and Masud Mohiuddin and Mahmud Hassan Shikder‘s Bakul katha will receive Tk 70,00,000, respectively.
Rifat Mustafa’s Juddhajibon, Bandhan Biswas’s Laal Sharee, Sharaf Ahmed Jibon’s Bicharalay and Himel Ashraf’s Maya will receive Tk 65,00,000.
Reza Ghatak’s Story of Dodo, Habibul Islam Habib’s Japita Jibon, Kamal Mohammad Kibria’s Arji, Chaktu Ahmed’s Ahare Jibon, Ratan Kumar Paul’s Antarkhola, Sarwar Tamizuddin Ahmed’s Bhashar Jonno Momtaz, and Syed Masud Zakaria Chowdhury and Abdus Samad Khokon’s Muktir Choto Galpo will receive Tk 60,00,000 each.
For the last few years, the official list of the grant-winning films drew criticism from the artistes, distributors and netizens for a perceived decline in quality.
