Teaser of 'JK 1971' released

The teaser of Fakhrul Arefeen Khan's film "JK 1971," was released on Saturday, May 29. Touted as Bangladesh's first English language movie on the 1971 Liberation War, the film marks the director’s second collaboration with Feluda-famed Kolkata actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty.

“I always enjoy working with Sayasachi,” the director told Dhaka Tribune Showtime. “He played a PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) pilot. It was a tremendous experience.”

The 1 minute 16 second teaser garnered positive responses on Gorai Film's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The film is based on true events surrounding young Frenchman Jean Kay, who hijacked a plane of PIA right after take-off on December 3, 1971, in Paris. He demanded 20 tonnes of emergency child medicine for Bangladeshi refugees during the Liberation War.

Co-produced by Gorai Films and Tanvir A Mishuk, the film also stars American Francisco Raymond, Sourav Shuvro Das, Indrajit Mazumder; Russian actors Deria Gvrusenko, Nikolai Novominaski, and 36 foreign artists from the US, UK, and Spain.

The "Bhubon Majhi" and "Gondi" director collaborated with veteran scriptwriter Masum Reza for the screenplay of "JK 1971." The official trailer will be released in September this year, and the is expected to hit local theatres in December.
