Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster has been confirmed as the first cast member of the fourth season of HBO anthology series "True Detective."
The "Silence of the Lamb" actor is set to star as Detective Liz Danvers in the new season, which is set in chilly Alaska, where the sun never rises at certain times of the year.
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice," reads the official synopsis.
Foster, who is no stranger to television, has previously directed episodes for “House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” and “Black Mirror." She will serve as an executive producer along with Barry Jenkins for the fourth season of the anthology series.
Based on a script by Alan Page Arriaga and Issa Lopez, the HBO series is yet to reveal a premiere date.
