Tareq Ahmed to serve as jury member at 17th MIFF

Tareq Ahmed has been invited as an international jury member at the 17th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), which will run from May 29, 2022, to June 4, 2022.

He is the Director of Dhaka DocLab and the Festival Director of Liberation Doc Fest Bangladesh.

He will evaluate the films from the International Competition line-up at this year's festival. He is the first Bangladeshi to have earned this honour.

Eleven Bangladeshi short films and documentaries will be showcased at MIFF as Bangladesh has been chosen as the theme country in a bid to celebrate its 50th independence anniversary.

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's "Silence", Suvarna Senjuti Tushir's "Ripples" and Abu Saheed Eman's "Araimon Shopno," Shabnam Firdausi's "Born Together", Dilara Begum Jolly's "Jotherlina", Humaira Bilkis's "Garden of Memories", Ratan Pal's "Dojahan", Maqbool Chowdhury's "Not a Peni Not a Gun", Sumon Delwar's "Jowal", (Nou Comando), Mofidul Haque's "Kaan Pet Roi" (Sound of Silence) and Piplu R Khan's "Hasina: A Daughter's Tale" will be screened.

Organized biennially by the Films Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, MIFF started its journey in 1990 and focuses on documentary, short fiction and animation films.
