Alejandro González Iñárritu’s new film ‘Limbo’ to depict Mexican-American War

Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu has been out of the spotlight for quite some time. His last film, “The Revenant,” starring Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, came out six years ago, in 2015.

The director is set to make a comeback with his new film “Limbo,” the details of which were kept under the wraps till now.

A Mexican outlet El Universal (via The Film Stage) is reporting that the director will explore the Mexican-American War in his next film.

Industry experts are pointing out that this epochal event has been rarely depicted in Hollywood films.

The new photos from set reveal a replica of the Chapultepec Castle where a historical battle of the war took place in 1847.

Actors Daniel Giménez Cacho, Leonardo Alonso and Andrés Almeida have reportedly jointed the cast. Iñárritu has already hired the French-Iranian cinematographer Darius Khondji to film his new project. The cinematographer’s best known credits include “Se7en,” “Uncut Gems,” and “Okja.”

Director Iñárritu is best known for directing films such as “21 Grams,” “Babel,” “Biutiful,” “Birdman” and “The Revenant.”
