Director Srijit Mukherji is set to replace Rahul Dholakia in Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming film 'Shabaash Mithu,’ after Dhoklia left the project due to scheduling issues.
"Unfortunately, I won't be part of the dream, but I am, and will always be there for them to realize their dream. Covid messed up everyone's schedules, mine was no different. Ajit has a vision and a plan for the film and the way to realize it. I wish him and the team the very best for it,” read a statement from Dhoklia.
"Shabaash Mithu" revolves around the life and career of Indian women's cricket captain Mithali Raj, starring Tapsee Pannu in the titular role.
Filming began on April 5 and had to be later postponed after the Maharashtra government issued a halt on film and television shoots.
"Covid disruptions have required rescheduling of shoot and as a result, Rahul is moving on from Shabaash Mithu. Srijit Mukherji will now take over the director's mantle. Srijit has worked with us closely on Ray (upcoming film on Netflix) and our plans of making a cricket film together will now come to fruition. I am sure he will bring all his passion and craft to this dream film," said producer Ajit Andhare.
Currently, Srijit is busy with his web series adaptation of the popular 2015 Bangladeshi thriller 'Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Ashen Ni.’
