Nolan and Rylance oblivious to Harry Styles’ fame

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan and Oscar winning actor Mark Rylance were quite unaware of how famous Harry Styles was before shooting Dunkirk. However, it seems that the young people in their lives certainly did. Christopher Nolan revealed on Friday that he doesn’t think he “was really aware of how famous Harry was” before casting the popstar in his upcoming World War II feature Dunkirk. “I mean, my daughter had talked about him. My kids talked about him, but I wasn’t really that aware of it. So the truth is, I cast Harry because he fit the part wonderfully and truly earned a seat at the table,” Nolan added. The former One Direction member has recently launched his solo career plays a British solidier in Nolan’s upcoming suspense-thriller about the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk, France, in May and June 1940. Mark Rylance, who will also be seen in the film disclosed that the first time he learned of Harry was from his 11-year-old niece. The Bridge of Spies actor said, “She was more excited than about this than anything I’ve ever done because I was going to be acting with Harry Styles.” “I went up in her estimation. I won the Harry!” Rylance added. Dunkirk, will also feature the likes of Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy and Fionn Whitehead and is set to open on July 21 at American theaters.
