Sylvester Stallone’s magnum opus Rambo, is yet another film which is being remade in Hindi, and the news has reached the star, who is seemingly not happy with it and hopes that the B-town doesn’t ‘wreck it’.
In a surprising turn of events, Original Entertainment closed a five-picture deal with Millennium Films in 2013, for Bollywood remakes of Rambo, The Expendables, 16 Blocks, 88 Minutes, and Brooklyn’s Finest. Bang Bang helmer, Siddharth Anand will be directing Rambo, and is currently teaming up with Indian actor and martial arts expert Tiger Shroff, who is to be featured in the title role, with the project scheduled to begin shooting in February, 2018.
Upon hearing the news, Stallone tweeted, “I read recently they are remaking Rambo in India! Great character. Hope they don’t wreck it.”
Shroff immediately responded saying that he won’t let him down upon noticing Stallone’s concern over his new venture.
“By no means do I believe I can replace the legendary Sylvester Stallone; however, I do feel that somehow this is something I’ve been preparing for since childhood,” Tiger had earlier said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Rambo, the Hollywood franchise, which was started in 1982, with the introduction of Sylvester Stallone’s rogue warrior in First Blood, Stallone then went on to play the action character John Rambo in the Hollywood film series consisting First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, and Rambo.
However, the announcement has also come with the reveal of the film’s official poster along with an official synopsis of the film. The action film will follow the last surviving member of an elite covert unit of the Indian Armed force who returns home to discover a war waging in his own land. Forced into the dangerous jungles and frozen mountains of the Himalayas, he unleashes mayhem and destruction, becoming the unstoppable machine he was trained to be.
Bollywood has been infamously making remakes of popular Hollywood films for a long time, while there’s an allegation against the B-town directors and actors that more often they lose the essence the originals movies.
