Acclaimed Bangladeshi art director, production designer and film-maker Mohiuddin Faroque passed away today due to heart failure. Earlier, he showed symptoms of coronavirus and kept himself in quarantine.
The late art director was found unconscious in his house today. He was rushed to the Kurmitola General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the cause of death being heart failure. The National Film Award-winning art director, who started his long and celebrated career with a film tited Poonam Ki Raat, was 78 years old at the time of his death.
Mohiuddin Faroque worked as an art director for nearly 200 Bangla films with a career spanning over four decades. He received Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Art Direction seven times for the films Bosundhora , Dumurer Phool, Pita Mata Santan, Padma Nadir Majhi, Dukhai, Meghla Akash and Obujh Bou.
He directed a fim titled Biraj Bou based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s timeless novel. He served as the Chairman of the department of Film and Media Studies of Stamford University Bangladesh.
He left behind his wife, two sons and one daughter.
