Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to Breach Candy hospital early Monday morning. The singer suffered from a viral chest infection, but she is on a path of recovery, according to a statement from her family.
Lata Mangeshkar's sister Usha Mangeshkar told news agency PTI, "Lata didi is still in the hospital. She is under observation. She is doing absolutely well, and is stable. She will be discharged by tomorrow." She added, "We thought it's better to treat her at a hospital because of the viral infection so she is there for today."
Lata is one of the most respected playback singers in India. She has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films, and has sung songs in over thirty-six languages. Lata has been bestowed with many prestigious awards including, DadaSaheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna, and many more.
