Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given financial assistance to popular singer Andrew Kishore on Sunday evening, UNB reports. She handed a cheque of Tk10 lakh to the singer at her residence in Ganabhaban.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told : “The Prime Minister handed over a cheque for the amount to Andrew Kishore at her official residence Ganabhaban here this (Sunday) evening.”
While receiving the cheque, the singer expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for providing financial assistance for his treatment, the press secretary said.
Singer Andrew Kishore's name will be forever associated with the music of Bangladesh's film industry. Among his many popular songs most notable are Jiboner Golpo Ache Baki Olpo, Haire Manush Rongin Fanush, Dak Diachen Doyal Amare, Amar Shara Deho Kheyo Go Mati, Amar Buker Moddhe Khane, Amar Babar Mukhe Prothom Jedin Shunechilam Gan, Bhengeche Pinjor Meleche Dana, and Shobai To Bhalobasha Chai.
Andrew has received National film awards a total of eight times for play-back singing in films. His debut in play-back singing happened in 1977, in the film Mail Train. He sang Ochinpurer Rajkumari Nei Je Tar Keu, which was composed by Saley Alam Khan.
