After capturing the hearts of millions across Bangladesh, the docu-drama – Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale, which was released in 2018, is now taking the international audience by storm.
A major milestone for both Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale, and the Bangladesh film industry, the docu-drama has been selected for screening at several prestigious international film festivals in 2019, this according to the Centre for Research and Information (CRI).
Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale has been selected to be screened at the 40th edition of the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.
It was screened on July 20, and 24 at the ‘Gateway 12,’ and the Venue Musgrave 1 respectively.
Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale was also selected for screening at the 10th Jagran Film Festival at New Delhi, India.
The docu-drama is currently scheduled to be screened at the Barcelona Asian Film Festival between October 31 and November 9.
It has also been selected to be screened at Australia’s Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) during August 9-17.
Bangabandhu’s grandson, and Centre for Research and Information (CRI) Trustees Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid co-produced the docu-drama.
A team of international personalities have also collaborated in it. For instance, the cinematography was done by Sadik Ahmed, and editing was by Navnita Sen. Debojyoti Mishra, an internationally acclaimed Indian music composer, composed the musical score.
Hasina: a Daughter’s Tale was released on November 16, at the Star Cineplex in the capital’s Bashundhara City mall. The film also ran at Blockbuster Movie of the Jamuna Future Park, Modhumita Cinema Hall at Motijheel in Dhaka, and the Silver Screen in Chattogram.
‘Hasina-A Daughter’s Tale’ overall is not just a story of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and her political career, rather it is a documentary on Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. It portrays a heartrending biopic, a fascinating account of a daughter’s perspective on how the country’s darkest hours had changed her life forever.
