‘Dawn of Black’: Abstract expressions in red, blue

Prominent contemporary artist Anukul Chandra Mojumder will display his collection of contemporary artwork at an exhibition titled "Dawn of Black.” The exhibition opens at Edge Gallery on April 27 at 6:30pm.

Quite unusual in abstract art, Anukul's paintings seem to lack a color palette and are almost monochrome, either, for example, predominantly red or blue. The other technique, seen in much of his work, is an ingenious use of blank spaces on his canvases, that take on a presence of their own.

The negative space provides an ideal setting for the abstract-figurative interplay, as seen in the major work all in blue which gyrates across our view.

He thus applies all the skills of an artist as if orchestrating a symphonic flow – where the shapes, the color and the blank spaces all come together to tell a deeply emotional story.

The exhibition will feature 77 works by the artists. The exhibition will be open for all from April 28 to May 18. It will be open daily from 10am to 8pm.
