“Game of Thrones,” undoubtedly one of the most hyped television series' in broadcast history, will air its season finale on April 14, exactly three weeks from now. The Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime brings you the most talked about fan theories across the internet, on who will finally win the iron throne. This week we will talk about the “girl who has no name,” Arya Stark, the youngest member alive from Winterfell’s House Stark.
After the season 8 trailer release back in January, the most popular theory floating around the net about Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams, was that she would die within the first couple of episodes.
The video showed siblings Jon Snow, Sansa, and Arya, in the crypts of Winterfell, where statues of their dead relatives stand. In the trailer, Sansa and Arya's mother Catelyn Stark's statue was seen and her voice said: "All this horror that has come to my family."
Then, Jon, Sansa, and Arya turn around and see statues of themselves. Fans on Reddit have noticed Sansa and Arya's statues look different from Jon's. Both the sisters were modeled to look the same age they are now, but Jon's looked like an older version of himself. This could mean that Sansa and Arya will die really soon, and Jon will live on to middle age.
Though fan theories also point to Maisie Williams’ recent Guardian interview, where she teased that Arya’s final scene was “beautiful.”
“I ended on the perfect scene. I was alone,” Williams added. Theorists are speculating this might mean she will seek vengeance on Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, for the murder of her father and other family members.
Redditors say she can do that as she has spent the past couple of years in the free city of Braavos studying to be an assassin with the death cult known as the Faceless Men. Her mentor, the assassin formerly known as Jaqen H'ghar, has sparred Arya to prove that she can give up her identity and become a "no one" in the service of the Many-Faced God.
Though these two theories contradict each other, such as Faceless Men cannot have material possessions, including their own identity, let alone the iron throne. Some forensic analysis of the official trailer from shot to shot show Arya scared and running for her life in a King’s Landing castle.
She is bleeding badly and the shadows chasing her seem like White Walkers. Some theorists said this would be the end of Westeros and Arya, as the Army of the Dead has reached the throne and eventually Arya, along with all the living folks, will die.
Viewers will need to wait three more weeks till all of these questions are finally answered.
