Japan’s beloved anime, “Chibi Maruko Chan,” will air on NTV starting February 26. The Embassy of Japan and NTV reached an agreement on Wednesday to telecast the popular anime in Bangla.

NTV’s Head of Programs, Mustafa Kamal Sayed, handed over a memorandum to Ambassador Izumi on February 20 at the embassy. Japan Foundation and NTV are in close collaboration in this initiative.

At the occasion, Ambassador Izumi, said: “I hope Bangladeshi children enjoy watching Chibi Maruko Chan and it sparks their interest in Japan and its culture. Please watch her growing up in a typical Japanese lifestyle, surrounded by her family and friends.”

The series depicts the simple and heart-warming everyday lives of Momoko “Maruko” Sakura, with her family and school friends, in a Japanese suburb. First airing in 1990, “Chibi Maruko Chan” has always been an all-time favourite of Japanese children. The animated TV series, or anime, is still on in Japan today.

Notably, NTV will telecast 48 foreign programs in Bangla, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 4:00PM to 4:30PM.
