Bangladeshi film “Komola Rocket” won the Jury Prize award at the sixth Festival du Film d’Asie du Sud (FFAST) in Paris.
The film which is Noor Imran Mithu’s directorial debut, has gained so many accolades at various film festivals around the world, and is now streaming on Netflix for a global audience.
FFAST also known as the South Asian Film Festival usually takes place from February 12 to 17 at Le Grand Rex Cinema in Paris.This film festival is a platform for films that are under-represented with an aim to bring together new filmmakers trying to break into the industry.
Based on the Bangla Academy Award winning writer Shahaduzzaman’s stories “Moulik” and “Cyprus,” the story of the film revolves around a steamer by the name of Rocket.
Produced by Impress Telefilm, the cast of the film includes Tauquir Ahmed and Lux-Channel i Super Star contestant Samiya, along with Mosharraf Karim and others.
Earlier, the film received some critical acclaim and was awarded at various prestigious film festivals, including the Best Debut Film award at the Jaffna International Film Festival.
This year the film was also screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival. It was the only Bangladeshi film to be selected for the Asian Film Competition section.
